MowPop Pop Up Plugin Editor For WordPress

Better Get MowPop Before They Pull It From Warrior Forum For Their Live Web Launch!

Because you know what? The price for MowPop will be going WAY up when they do! They’ve Updated, Improved, Tweaked, Refined, and made this the most all around AWESOMEST Pop Up Plugin EVAARR! When I first did this video review, I was terribly in love with it. Now that they’ve gone to such great lengths to meet their customers feedback and requests, I am simply Over The Moon about it.

MowPop Edit 300x267 MowPop Pop Up Plugin Editor For WordPress

MowPop Edit Screen

The two popups you see on this site (the entry and the exit) are made in MowPop.  You don’t always see these pop ups. I have the entry set for.. oh.. once every 30 days or something? Or I may have changed it.. I will have to check. The exit only shows once every 7 days. Once you see it, you won’t see it again until the timer rolls over. Built into the plugin is stats tracking- you can see how many times the popup was viewed, and how many times any links in your pop up were clicked – including your optin form. That way, you can tweak it and test it, tweak it and test it, if you are into that sort of fine tuning.  (Which we should all be!)

MowPop Stats 300x141 MowPop Pop Up Plugin Editor For WordPress

MowPop For WordPress - Stats

The thing I love best about the MowPop plugin is that the editor, or builder, is EXTREMELY simple to use. It’s WYSIWYG, and laid out on some ways like PhotoShop or GIMP. You have your basic sets of options on the left, some more options along the top, and when you get into the builder itself, you get a Layers box for all of your elements. You can show all, hide all, show some, rearrange the order- it’s Sweet.

You can drag and drop and resize. Link images. Add video.  Edit the CSS yourself on every single option, if that’s your bag. In the pop up settings you can choose which pages or posts to show the pop ups on. How frequently you want them to show. If you want the pop up on entry, on exit with an alert, or to show up whenever someone moves their mouse off the browser window. You can set delays, overlays, exit buttons, and everything within the pop up is tweakable. The size, shape, color, content, – oh and get this! You can take your autoresponder code, and instead of getting the same old boring “every one has one” look to it, you can take each element of the optin box (name, email, submit button) and lay them over some really cool looking graphics- making your optin Completely Unique.

The plugin comes LOADED with tons of graphics, buttons, arrows, all the bells and whistles. Here’s the kicker though – you can even import your own. You can use HTML, CSS, Javascript, or just use the builder and leave all that be. MowPop is super powerful, yet super easy to use, and to me, SUPER FUN! Not to mention there are video tutorials built right into the plugin, very clear and easy to follow to help you over what little learning curve there is.

MowPop Builder 300x279 MowPop Pop Up Plugin Editor For WordPress

MowPop Builder Screen

I’ve had more than one person ask me where I got my cool social media pop up. I love being able to say – I BUILT IT!  Have a look at my original review video and see if MowPop might be something you’d love to use too. Oh, and here’s a hint for an upcoming popup – I will be using MowPop to introduce a survey made with the OptIn Funnel plugin for WordPress. (No link on that as it’s no longer available on the Warrior Forum, and has not launched on the general web yet.)

I’m serious though – they WILL be puling this from the Warrior Forum (I don’t know the date) and they WILL be launching it to the general public at a higher price. Now is the time to get it, though even at double the cost, it would be worth it. MowPop is worth its weight in GOLD, and beats the pants off of an other PopUp plugin out there.

The MOW stands for Marketing Online Workshop- An incredible training resource for free and advanced internet and affiliate marketing, PPC, SEO, WordPress, Social Media... I know I left some subjects out. They are just incredible over there. Check them out because it is FREE to join!

Twitter Friday Follow Blogs November 18

Friday Follow on Twitter #2

friday follow 1 300x222 Twitter Friday Follow Blogs November 18

What The Follow, Mate?

It’s been one busy day for me, so today’s post and freebie changeout is a bit.. delayed. Right now I also have my stepkids and their cousins here for a Friday sleepover, but chaos be darned! I’m getting this post out! *chuckle*

The first blogger and super Twitter star I want to feature is Michele Welch of NewBizBlogger. I love that she runs a Friday Q&A, and today’s topic, list building, is one that hits home for marketers of every flavor! She’s also got a pretty awesome download for you called 202 Way To Increase Website Traffic & Gain More Clients Checklist. Go give her blog a looksee, and you can find her on Twitter at @newbizblogger

The second blogger I’d love to share with you is Donna Fontenot over at DazzlinDonna. She has a way of making me giggle while making me smarter *laugh* and you gotta love that. Take for instance this social media post.  She lays bare the fact that stats on social media sites are often incorrect, and even if they were right, so what? Then she tells you just what stats you SHOULD be concerned with. Her invitation to lurk at the end was spot on.. *chuckle* You can find Donna on Twitter at @DonnaFontenot

The third blogger (these are in random order by the way!) that I’d like to share with you is Tristan Higbee of TheBacklight. Now, Tristan has another site, Infographic Academy, that is currently closed to new member registrations due to some major site improvements in the works. However, he also runs The Backlight, which has some interesting articles on media, digital publishing, and infoproduct creation. His article on misspelled domains answered a question I’d been chewing on lately. How much traffic does a misspelled domain name from a popular, high traffic blog really get, and would it be worth buying that variation up? Go check out his conclusion, and find him on Twitter @TristanHigbee or @TheBacklight

I’d also like to put the spotlight on Ann Smarty, owner of MyBlogGuest.  MyBlogGuest is a really great idea, a place for bloggers to get together and post high quality content and to connect with other bloggers. You need to register to use the site but registration is FREE and the benefits are limitless! Ann also does blog and blog SEO consulting over at her site SEOSmarty. Swing by and download her Free Checklist For Guest Authors and Paid Contributors.  You can find Ann on Twitter at @seosmarty

Last but not least, I’d love to introduce you to Andrew Rondeau over at WeBuildYourBlog.  He routinely posts about ways to improve your blog, increase your traffic, and immerse the blog world with your presense. Today I enjoyed his tip post for getting Google to crawl your blog more often. Well, that was just one I enjoyed, but that’s the one I chose to send you to first icon smile Twitter Friday Follow Blogs November 18  You can find Andrew on Twitter at @andrewrondeau

That’s it for this week! Be sure to check out the new free gift download popup that appears when you click away from the site. It’s an interesting little report on an under explored way to earn income- especially RECURRING income!

Follow Friday and Blogs To Adore!

Find Awesome Twitter Feeds and Even More Awesome Blogs!

follow friday icon1 300x170 Follow Friday and Blogs To Adore!

#FF What The Follow, Mate?

Since today is Follow Friday on Twitter ( #FF ) and I’ve also recently joined the DoFollow blog movement, I’ve decided to share with you some of my favorite recent blog posts from the awesome people I #FF Tweeted about today!  I’ve also picked a special, topical item for this weeks IM Gift (which you should see when you are ready to click away from this blog).

First let’s take a look at Michelle Shaeffer’s blog . I really enjoyed her November 5th post, 20 Totally Free Image Sources. There are some truly neat sources listed there, such as Wordle, which lets you create a “cloud” of words from any text or feed of your choosing. I’d never even Heard of most of these sources, but I will certainly be using them in the future! Find her on Twitter at @michelleshaeffr

Next is one of my Favorite blogs around, Gail Gardener’s GrowMap. Of course, my FAVORITE blog post ever on her blog has to be *chuckle* yesterday’s post announcing me as the winner of CommentLuv Premium! But seriously, Gail’s got so many great posts there, on everything from blogging best practices, to social media, to online growth strategies – I couldn’t begin to list all of the topics she covers in detail for us. Gail’s definitely a pro, and I recommend adding her to your “favorite blog” rotation! Find her on Twitter at @growmap

Third up is actually a guest post by Jane Sheeba over on Kristi Hines’ blog, Kikolani. It’s a humerous and insightful post about what not to do to gain traffic to your blog. I definitely have no problem with Mistake #2 – I have too much fun writing to keyword optimize and cater to the search engines. I know, I know, big mistake.. but it is what it is *chuckle*. You can find Kristi Hines / Kikolani on Twitter at @kikolani

The only male in today’s bunch is Extreme Johnone crazy cat with some awesome ideas for your blog and your business. I particularly enjoyed today’s post on how to build a Google + brand page. I think, up til now, Google + hasn’t been utilized as much as it should be, but now that they’ve opened up brand pages, it’s something anyone with a blog or business should get in on! You can find John on Twitter at @extremejohn

Then we have Ms. Ileane, a real pro, and a real personality! She writes great posts, has awesome guest bloggers, and is a frequent feature over at The ComLuv Network . Her November 1 blog post about promoting your content on YouTube made me laugh, and helped me get over my inhibitions. She makes some spot on accurate observations, and backs it up by having a really great channel herself. You can also find her over on Twitter at @ileane

And last, but sure as heck not least,  is Karen over at Blazing Minds. Her blog rambles a bit over a lot of topics, but in a delightful way. She has a decent flow of guest bloggers, and one of my favorite recent posts is Classic Film Friday featuring Evil Dead. Maybe it’s just because I have many memories of laughing my butt off watching ED 1 & 2 in my teen years, but I have to give her a thumbs up on choosing that one last week icon smile Follow Friday and Blogs To Adore! Evil Dead 1 & 2 were some of the campiest, most hysterical “horror” movies to ever hit the market, and though I enjoyed the “third” in the series, Army of Darkness, it was Too Obvious in it’s humor. ED 1 & 2 appeared to take themselves seriously- which made them all the funnier. Anyway, go check out her blog, you never know what you are gonna find there icon smile Follow Friday and Blogs To Adore!  You can also find Karen on Twitter at @blazingminds

Now before you go clicking away, why don’t you leave me a comment and let me know if you too participate in Follow Friday on Twitter? You’re gonna get some backlink love from CommentLuv, so you have nothing to lose by chatting with me icon biggrin Follow Friday and Blogs To Adore!

Get Some Comment Love!

Also, if you haven’t seen the pop up this week, when you do click away you’re gonna see a pop up with a gift box. I’ll actually ruin the surprise and tell you what today’s gift is – it’s “Dealing With Twitter”, a great, detailed ebook on using Twitter with your business. It comes with a surprise twist too- you’ll see what I mean when you unzip it!

See you soon, and check back next week for Follow Friday, and more blogs that I adore!

Take This Internet Marketing Gift And Love It

Tools For Internet Marketing Every Week

I’ve decided to do something fun every week. Now, on first glance, it could seem like I’m trying to Bribe You to visit my blog. That’s the normal reason people give things away for free.

In truth, I was sitting in front of the computer this morning, bored to tears. Sometimes I just get worn out with the usual tasks, and I look for ways to lighten my brain, and entertain myself. So I decided to play with my new favorite WordPress toy – MOW POP!  MOW POP is a drag & drop, WYSIWYG editor with so many functions and possibilities, I don’t know if I personally am even creative enough to apply all that it can do. I hate popups, but with the full tweakability of this plugin, pop ups just became a whole new creature.

I didn’t want to make an entry pop up – you know, timed to pop up a certain amount of time after the viewer enters the page. I’m still not 100% comfortable forcing my readers to have to stop and see an ad- even if the ad is something fun. In fact, I didn’t even know what kind of pop up I wanted to make! But I decided to have a go at creating one that shows up when my reader is ready to leave the site, and moves their mouse off the main window.

Ok, I had that down, but what kind of pop up to make? What would be the purpose? *fingers tap the table* I opened the editor and began looking through the hundreds of graphics included with the plugin. I ended up in “Special Occasions” and my eyes fell on the array of gift boxes. Suddenly my mind went to the huge folder of MRR and PLR I’ve got on my system. OOh OOh Fun! I could give away stuff via the exit pop up!

It didn’t occur to me until I was done with it (in about 5 minutes) that this might come off as bribery, or your typical “let me give you something free and pray you come back” kind of move. It really isn’t that.

See, when I was a kid visiting my grandparents in Minnesota, I used to spend Hours in their basement. They had one particular closet down there that was just FILLED with Grandpas old sales samples. He was an old school salesman, who went from business to business offering promotional services- he’d put your company name and information on anything you could think of. Key chains, frisbess, letter openers, golf balls, hats, coin purses, tumbler cups, washcloths – you name it, he’d put your name on it!  He was really successful too- in fact he was still making the rounds at age 98, albeit a bit slower. (He’s still kickin’ by the way, turning 105 this January!)

To a kid, it was a treasure trove! Yeah, I spent hours playing with the stuff.. but the most fun I had with it was sifting through the “merchandise” and picking out items I thought everyone else would love. Then I would take those items, and lovingly wrap them in tissue paper, put them in shirt and jewelry boxes, and select the coolest gift wrap to perfect the effect. I’d run around, pleased and proud and delighted, giving my family and friends the silliest gifts, to which they graciously reacted with joy and surprise. Oh my gosh, what a show my Grandma in particular used to put on when I’d give her one of these gifts. She made me feel like she truly wanted just what I’d given her, like I’d made her entire day! And that stuck with me.

To this day, I am actually a Really Good Gift Giver. I have a knack for finding unusual items that perfectly suit the recipients personality. These days, the surprise and delight are rarely feigned. Most of the time I get the “WoW!” and “Where did you find this?” and “Oh my gosh this is SO COOL!” type reactions. And to this day, I get just as much of a rush from giving things to people in boxes with pretty paper and shiny ribbons.

That’s why I got really excited by this idea, of giving away a new, cool, free Internet Marketing gift when someone is ready to leave my site.

To that end, every Wednesday I will be putting up a new gift for you. You’ll only see the pop up one time every 7 days- if you see it on Wednesday, you won’t see it again Next Wednesday, and the link will be a New Gift. If you see it on Friday- you won’t see it again until Next Friday.

After the pop up was ready, I got to have even more fun, digging through my items and seeing, what could I give away, and what would you want to get? Kind of like an early Christmas shopping spree without having to spend more money or wade through other shoppers. I came up with something, for this first gift, that I personally think is Really Neat, and a little bit of Fun too.

But you’ll have to wait until you leave to get your gift- and download it to see what it is.  (no No don’t rush off now hahaha) When you move your mouse up to another tab, or your bookmarks, or the address bar- anywhere off this main browser window- you’ll see the pop up. If you don’t want the gift.. you can click the X or anywhere outside of the box to close it. Or you can just go on about your way to your next destination.

But remember- if you don’t find out what your surprise is today, you’ll miss out! Until next weeks surprise. icon smile Take This Internet Marketing Gift And Love It

Leave a comment and let me know if you are gonna get it icon biggrin Take This Internet Marketing Gift And Love It I’ve got CommentLuv so why not? Get a backlink and some traffic to go with your free gift icon smile Take This Internet Marketing Gift And Love It

Check out MOW POP while it is still on "Pre Launch" pricing! You can get a single site license for $7, or an UNLIMITED license for $27 - an INCREDIBLE VALUE for all that this plugin does. No Longer will you find popups dreary, boring, distasteful. With built in stats tracking it's easy to test and tweak and make something that will POP!

Traffic Love, Backlink Love, I’m In Love with CommentLuv!

Backlinks and Traffic Bore Me to Tears.. Usually!

When I first started in internet marketing, I was handed a powerful search query. It took me MONTHS to realize just how cool this utility was. I thought it was a simple method for getting backlinks. Oh how shortsighted that vision was.

In the intervening months I have come to see CommentLuv as more than a backlink and traffic tool. I’ve found it to be an invaluable resource for finding not only a community of like minded marketers, but information that, frankly, you just can’t find in Google.

Oh, it’s not that the information is not there. It’s just that- let’s face it  - no matter how many slaps the PANDA bear doles out, the first page of Google is still generally filled with crap. I go looking for something specific, and I usually have a hard time finding what it is I am actually looking for. Or information that is CURRENT.

But the value of FINDING CommentLuv enabled blogs is only half of the attraction for me. I don’t know what took me so long, but I finally put the CommentLuv plugin on my site.

See, what I didn’t know in the early days was that having people come to my blog and Comment was just as important for the authority and ranking of my site as the content that is on it. But it makes sense- Google loves good information, but Google also loves to see that Others Agree- and what better way than by an active comment life ont he blog? That shows that the visitors are not only unique, but engaged, and staying around long enough to absorb said content. And we’ve all seen how SOCIAL is the wave of the future.

Now there is a new version of CommentLuv Premium about to hit the shelves. Folks, this thing is too cool for school. Let me give you a rundown on what is coming with this new version:

  • Unlock Advanced Features to leave deeper backlinks on 10s of 1000s of blogs out there right now – advanced features that very few people have or even know about.
  • Dramatically increase your chances of having your posts go viral.
  • Easily add advanced social enticements to every single post on your site.
  • Increase your Twitter followers, Facebook Likes, and improve your Google search results listings by having multiple Google +1s made on your posts.
  • Get rid of multiple plugins so your site runs faster and smoother.
  • Protect your blog from spambots and trackback spam with the built in GrowMap anti-spambot plugin.
  • See how many clicks are happening on your last blog post links on OTHER blogs – where you’re getting clicks and how many from each site.
  • Find out who is making the most comments on your site so you can link to their blog and encourage them to comment even more.
  • Just click boxes to set the name and CommentLuv fields to nofollow or dofollow or you can configure CommentLuv premium to require the number of approved comments you set before commenters receive dofollow links. (Similar to how Lucia’s Linky Love works or worked? Does it still?)
  • You can either allow keywords in the name field OR if you don’t like keywords – configure the plugin to automatically delete any keywords and the @ sign if commenters try to leave keywords anyway.
So tell me, have you ever tried CommentLuv? Do you have it on your blog? I’m on the free version currently and am quite happy with it- but I want to go premium! How about you? Comment below, because, it’s gonna give you some Luv if you do!
There is a valuable giveaway going on at GrowMap, where Gail shares how to grow business sites and blogs. You can win your own copy of the hottest plugin release of the year – CommentLuv Premium.
Entering is VERY easy: just visit Gail’s CommentLuv Premium giveaway page for more information.

Social Media Addiction – Trained Like Pavlov’s Pups!

Social Media Gets Into Our Psyche

I’m so addicted to the Like Button it’s scary.

For Example :

I just got an email from one of my favorite marketers. I laughed at the content and immediately went to look for the like button…

I frequently want to Like posts on the Warrior Forum and end up having to decide whether to Thank – which is not the same as Like!

I’ve even had the urge to Like statements made in face to face conversations…

What I want to know is.. am I the only one? I seriously doubt it. Just as the LOL has become a part of verbal conversation, the Like has become a reflex.

Sometimes I feel like one of Pavlov’s trained puppies.. my mental bell rings and I reach for the LIKE *blush*

Leave a comment below and tell me, has the Like and Tweet button been burned into YOUR psyche?

There are a lot of Twitter tools out there, but one of my Favorites is TweetBig! This management tool has a variety of cool features such as "Follower Time Bomb", which lets you decide how long you want to keep following folks who don't follow you back. It also has a competition analyzer, autofollow options, tweet scheduling, "red carpet finder" and more! Well worth the price, and the TweetBig page has a great video showing you how it works.

Tools to monitor your website

SEO is just one weapon in your internet marketing battle!

You can’t just put your website on the net with right keywords and all the right touches and expect your traffic and ranking will remain constant. As the web is an ever changing landscape, you have to keep track of your own web results like what is happening with the competition and also the best and highest ranked sites. There are many useful tools to help you find out what exactly is happening.

1. A tool which you can use to test your own website links or other websites for broken links:

http://home.snafu.de/tilman/xenulink.html

2. With this tool you can check search engines for the number of back links to your URL i.e. other web pages linking to your site:

http://www.digitalpoint.com/tools/backlinks/

3.It sometimes becomes important to know where the servers of your hosting company are physically located. Because, some search engines like Google have the ability to filter search results based on their physical location called geotargeting. Flashback – Where It All Began

Today is my dad’s birthday. Thank you Facebook for reminding me of such.

I called him earlier, and we continued the conversation in emails. We’d been crabbing about Microsoft, and it surprised him when I said I got mad at Microsoft when they forced us to go straight into Windows, completely bypassing DOS. How was I going to get straight to what I wanted, and wanted to do?

Funny how I wouldn’t have too much of a clue with DOS now..

He was surprised because he thought I was too young to know about DOS. This was part of my reply.

You bought me a Tandy TRS 80 when I was 5. I’ve been on computers for that long! Shoot.. I was pretty young when you were trying to get me to sit down with a C book and learn to program. Unfortunately.. that was not my language. Now we have the tools that speak my language and I am learning to speak theirs! icon biggrin Flashback Where It All Began

Tandy TRS 80 Color Computer

I did learn how to make the computer show me “Hi, my name is Jenny” in multiple colors on that tandy, but that was about as far as I could go *chuckle*  I’ve always been a pro software user, just not so hot with code. Early HTML was a breeze though!

I had one of the first geocities sites, it was a “walk through” tour of the Marianna Caverns up in north Florida. I had gone through, taken photos, then scanned them in. Every time you clicked on the picture, you would “step into” another room of the cave. I made the background pattern myself, and it changed in relation to the colors of the cave room itself.

For its time, it was pretty advanced, and I loved it! Now adays it would be quaint and extremely simple, but still elegantly functional. Wish I still had that site!”

Well the fact is I spent more time on that Tandy playing Dino Wars than anything else. din wars tandy 150x150 Flashback Where It All Began (I think the guy that wrote the review at that link there must be much younger than me. When I played it as a kid, I laughed my BUTT OFF. The graphics were not a problem since I had no better examples to be spoiled by.)

The web has changed Tremendously since I built that first website.

Back when Google first popped on the scene, I would talk excitedly of the day when  you’d be sitting around trying to remember something, and you would just hop on the computer, type in a search, and there’d be a web page for it. No- Hundreds! (Little did I imagine Millions and occasional Billions.) I would look and look for companies- ANY company! smart enough to put a website on their packaging, and those were Seriously Few and Far Between. (Now you can’t blink without seeing an URL somewhere!)

For a while I got sucked into Everquest and City of Heroes. Thank Goodness I had to go tech free before I got swallowed whole by World of Warcraft. (I still imagine goblins spilling out of the woods on occasion when taking nature walks…) However that time away from games was also time away from the web, and the language of website construction. I made it back after Twitter was just about a household name, and Facebook was this new thing that everyone was running to be on, and information had been monetized in more ways than even I’d dreamed was possible.

It was even longer before I could really jump back in and experience this new web. In some ways it’s incredible- in other ways it’s stomach turning. Access to information is endless. The possibilities are endless. The ways to make money online are endless.  All of these come in shades of good, bad, and grey.

I’m doing my best as a marketer to stay on the good side of the force. In a way, what we do when we try to sway people’s opinions or buying habits can feel like Jedi mind trickery.  While I like to think of the Jedi as the good guys, it would be foolish to say they wouldn’t admit some of their ways are a moral shade of grey. As marketers, just the fact that we are trying to influence people into spending money, which is actually an emotional thing more than logic, can feel morally grey. Just try your best to stay away from the dark side. The internet universe will be better as a whole if we do.

Yes, I did just compare myself, and you, to a Jedi.

If you’ve seen my skype pic, that’s a wall of bounty hunters behind me. Not my wall.. you can’t see my wall.. it’s much more diverse. And cooler. icon razz Flashback Where It All Began

Twist of Fate – Lessons Learned!

Wow when life hands me something this twisty and fascinating, I just Have to share it.

Sometimes things will happen to you while you’re pursuing the many paths to internet marketing success. Things that can be considered failures. Or successes. Depends on what you take from the whole experience.

Then sometimes, once in a while, you happen to be IN on something that effects even far more experienced marketers. And you come away practically unscathed, while they, on the other hand.. might get a bit burnt..

Yesterday the first part happened to me. This morning it happened to another marketer.. and I’m not sure they even know it yet.

Let me rewind about 33 hours. It’s oh, 2 in the morning, I’m super tired, and I still haven’t gotten a fruitful lead on what product I want to put together next. I want to be inspired.. it makes the work so much easier. (My White Hat Backlink Secrets was fun once I was onto the video part but writing it? Let’s face it.. backlinks are not exciting….)

I decided to head to the Warrior Forum and check out the test forum. It’s where people test sales pages and the like, and no, your post count won’t increase there so don’t even try it :p Anyhoo, I ran across two interesting things. One offered review copies if you PM him, the other was a test page for what Sounded like a Really Cool WordPress plugin. It was called WP-Amazing, and was supposed to allow you to set up an amazon affiliate store quickly, then turn around  and populate and backlink it for you. Set and forget. (let’s get real- there is NO SUCH THING. But it would have taken some tasks off your hand so you could focus on more backlinking and writing some original content to flesh it out.)

My mind immediately ticked – no, I was not going to buy this plugin. This is not my focus right now, building niche product amazon sites. It’s product and bonus creation- and usefull stuff at that (which is more time consuming that churning out crap!) However.. if the thing works as intended.. it would make a GREAT product to work up a training bonus for!

Now.. I had NO intention whatsoever of getting in on Christmas marketing this year. Trying my best not to split my focus. I’m not prepared for that sort of marketing at the moment anyway. Too busy!  However..  I saw an added benefit to this plugin.. if I could just get a REVIEW copy. I could test it out, set up one store, and Maybe.. Just Maybe.. have a little bit of income coming in “passively” for me by Christmas.

I’m All About Multiple Streams Of Income And You Should Be Too

All of this led me to do something I’ve never done before. I wrote the seller and asked if I could possibly get a review copy. Of course I “chatted” with him a moment first.. who want’s to receive a PM from a total stranger saying “Hey give me a review copy Plzzzzzz”? :p  To my surprise, he responded with a link and a license code and said he was looking forward to my review.

Ok I’m thinking BINGO now, all excited.. because I also know of a way to get a 3 .infos from GoDaddy, pay $6.51, and actually end up Earning $5.99 back into PayPal by Tuesday on the deal. (Yes, you can do it too, if you are a NEW GoDaddy member (I had been using NameCheap), And you are on a site like SuperPoints. I’ll be posting a page explaining all of that very soon, with video.)

I picked a pretty good domain name, set up the site and plugin, and let it run. I was kinda shocked at how little “how to” or explanation there was with it. That raised some alarm bells but at the time.. I didn’t realize the seller had already listed it as a WSO. I thought, mistakenly, that he was still in the testing phase. I even had thoughts crossing my mind that I could do how to videos for him either for a fee or some other trade. (My mind is Always ticking!) I noticed some things about how the plugin functioned that raised my concerns though.

I wrote several emails to the help desk with no reply, then went onto Warrior Forum to search for an answer to an RSS / .php / cron job question I had. What do you know, the first result of my search phrase was a sales thread for WP-Amazing! The thread was a day or so old, and had several pages of people with similar issues to what I’d encountered.. and other things I hadn’t noticed yet, not being an experienced Amazon niche site builder.

A lot of the problems were ones I had noted and intended to write him about. I mean, I’m a beta tester at heart, having tested many games, and some friends software over the years, a couple of WordPress plugins recently.. it’s just natural for me to give a bug report and suggestions for fleshing out funcionality.

His answer to Almost all of the issues was that they would be implemented or corrected shortly, and an update would be sent to all buyers.  My question was…  seriously? He had it up for sale already? I knew just from using it, that it needed testing and tweaking before it had a shot..  I didn’t ask that in the thread, I thought it from the MOMENT I saw that it was actually up for sale.

Would YOU put an incomplete product up for sale?

In the course of the thread. Some much more established marketers than me came to the guys defense, or at least suggested waiting for the updates before throwing the guy under a bus. But there were other red flags as well.. like the fact that he flat out refused to show any kind of proof of income, or any sites where he was actually, currently making money with the plugin. Just a shoddy, quickly thrown together page. One of the functions potentially violates Amazons TOS, and would only require a quick fix, however he stopped responding by then..  Also.. he only has 17 posts.

I know, I KNOW – Yes.. I noticed that before I asked for a review copy but he Claimed to have 6 years marketing experience in his home country and only recently joining the forum…  Hey. It’s Possible! haha

Well I don’t feel so bad because, at least I didn’t BUY the darn thing. Others who probably should have known better were willing to toss their money in to at least test it out.

It all came to a head when Paul Meyers closed the thread at 10:09 pm EST. I was about to FINALLY post something.. an honest, critical review (it was a review copy but it was skeletal bluefart crap, at least for an already released product) but the sale was locked down. Why? To quote Paul,

paul meyers wpamazing11 Twist of Fate Lessons Learned!

Oh and did I mention the upsell for a multisite license was like $100? I didn’t?  At least not too many people bought the upsell, from what they were saying on the thread. But I did see a few unfortunate “leap then look” types who bought and couldn’t get the multisite to work properly…

At this point I could beat my self up, or I could suck it up, pat myself on the back, and move on.

Why beat myself up is obvious – I’d not Literally bought in but I’d been lured in by shiny object syndrome and wasted an entire day on something “fruitless”. I’d used up a one time deal to profit on buying domain names, and wasted the purchase on something I now had no intention of using. (Ah but I already know how I am going to end up Profiting on those names too.. and I don’t mean directly in the sale of said names.. see I’m ALWAYS thinking!)

But why pat myself on the back? For one thing- it wasn’t entirely fruitless. I learned that I can move out of my comfort zone once in a while and the results, though unpredictable, are probably never going to be dull. I got a lesson in shiny object syndrome, and succumbing to the temptation to sidetrack from a mainline project. (Yes, it would have fit with my main goal but I did get a bit caught up in the idea of easy Amazon money. Can you blame me? It’s almost time to buy presents!!) I also learned that even more experienced marketers can succumb to shiny object syndrome too. So that made me feel a bit better :p

Fast forward to 6 am this morning

An email arrives in my inbox from a marketer I have a modicum of respect for. It’s about 2 amazing WordPress Plugins and guess what?

One of them is WP-Amazing

(insert crickets chirping to help you soak it in)

That means this guy got in on affiliate selling it and.. and.. well shoot? Did he even bother Testing it before he decided to sell it? Because it takes about 2 seconds to start noticing the lacks and less than 30 minutes to have a big enough list of complaints that I would NEVER promote it unless BIG changes were made first. Apparently, this means he hasn’t checked the sales thread either, because there were warning flags all OVER the place, from page 1. And possibly the message was on autoresponder because this was 8 hours after the sale was closed down. (Not a big deal except for the lack of checking lol)

Oh Boy. See, another twist! The lesson I took IMMEDIATELY was a fundamental rule of affiliate marketing – Never promote a product you know nothing about! It will only HURT your reputation in the long run.

I hate to say it.. but that helped me feel better about the whole thing too. That was an established marketer.. at least I didn’t even Think about making THAT kind of mistake!

The Magic Combo Of The Seven Deadly Sins

I just got through with a 19 page ebook called “The Seven Deadly Sins of PLR Content” by Jason Oickle.

This was the 1st time I ever laughed out loud four times. It was also the first time I ever made it all the way through a 19 page report and caught every single word!

I have a.d.d. and dyslexia so, just reading a pdf is hard. Just listening to an audio is hard. And those powerpoint presentations usually put me to sleep. But this book / report also had an mp3, and the reader was talented. She performed the piece without overdoing it.

So it was very easy to listen, and read along. It became more 3D (hard to explain ahah) and I was able to process it all. Time passed quickly, and before I knew it I was done.  The combo worked like magic!

Plus I learned some stuff. Pretty cool icon smile The Magic Combo Of The Seven Deadly Sins

This confirmed my suspicions that such a pairing would be better for my learning, and therefore must be better for lots of others learning too. (I know I’m not the only one!  lol) and I will be incorporating it into my products in the future.

…..   I’m going to have to get a professional mic …..

If you are going to be doing any kind of audio - product creation, webinars, YouTube, audio ebooks, etc- then there are some simple yet powerful things that you should know to drastically improve your sales. You need to take a look at The Voice For Marketing, over at JVZoo. Seriously- I bought it, and IMMEDIATELY benefited from it. It's crazy cheap, you can listen And read, and it's worth it's weight in gold.
